Joyce Ruth (Hendrix) Hinse was born on May 28, 1943 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Spencer and Arlene (Walker) Hendrix. She went to her heavenly home on February 26th, 2023 in Oklahoma City.
Joyce attended and graduated from Fort Cobb in 1961. She then continued her education at Haskell Institute focusing on business and graduated in 1964. She was nominated for football homecoming Queen while attending Haskell. Joyce started her career in business in Washington D.C. working at the BIA headquarters. She then moved her family of three to Dallas, Texas and became an EEOC investigator. Later she moved to Oklahoma in 1975 as an EEOC supervisor. In 1979, she transferred to Phoenix, AZ and continued working with EEOC. Later, when her parents became ill she moved back home to Oklahoma and continued her work with EEOC. She retired from the federal government in 2004.
She was a proud and involved member of the Caddo Nation. She served as the 1961 Caddo Nation princess. She later became the Vice Chairman and Council Member from 2004-2008.
Joyce married the love of her life, Andre Hinse, on June 29, 1985. She raised a loving family and was a devoted mother of two daughters, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Joyce loved to learn and enjoyed many different activities. She participated in Pampered Chef, Prairie Quilters Guild, Stampin' Up, Gold Canyon Candles, Amway, Watkins, and Toast Masters, among many, many others. She enjoyed entering any completed projects in the local and county fairs. Joyce was part of the Native American Indian Women's Association, the Federally Employed Women's Association and was an active member of the First Caddo Baptist Church in Fort Cobb. She will be greatly missed by many, as she touched many lives with her generosity and kindness.
