Joyce Ann Dupoint passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 in Yukon, Oklahoma. She was born October 27, 1953 to Mr. and Mrs. Yahola Artussee in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Joyce attended and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Upon graduation she attended Oklahoma State Tech, the University of Oklahoma, and earned a degree from Haskell Indian Nations University. She worked for the Oklahoma County Courthouse, Indian Health Service, The National Weather Service, Norman, Ok., and she held positions with the United States Government for numerous years in various cities such as Rockville, MD., Albuquerque, NM, Ponca City, OK . before recently retiring from Anadarko, Oklahoma.
Joyce Ann met and married her soul mate Phil Raymond Dupoint on February 26, 2005 in Carnegie, Ok. She was an enrolled member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and also of Creek descent. Joyce was a devout member of the Native American Church, Kiowa Chapter.
Joyce is survived by her husband of the home, daughters Karita Ramos and Cara Dupoint, Aunt Sissy Lewis (Henryetta, Oklahoma), uncle John Factor (Moore, Oklahoma). Cousins: Jean Hicks, Shelly Jacobs, Laura Artussee, Loretta Artussee, Crystal Jacobs, and John Factor Jr. Adopted mothers: Vivian Komardley and Mary Ruth (Peggy) Tsoodle, Sisters: Nina Smith (Del City), Dara Franklin (El Reno, Oklahoma) Gloria Redbird (Carnegie, Ok) Lela Cozad (Hog Creek, Ok) and Laura Emhoolah (Lawton, Ok) Sister in law Loretta Scantlen and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters, and friends. She is also survived by her grandchildren, too numerous to name, who were very special to her and also her little brothers and little sisters she held dear to her heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister Sis Bosin, and an adopted mother Geraldine Harris.
