Jose Quintero was the eldest son and third of eight children born on January 22, 1943 to Urbano & Angelita Quintero in Donna, Texas. The Quintero's were a migrant family always traveling across the United States for work, before setting in Hobart, Oklahoma in 1961. The family had many struggles just for the bare necessities. These struggles are what kept their faith in Jesus Christ and made for a stronger family bond.
Jose Quintero attended school in many cities wherever the family settled, however the majority of his school years were in Donna, Texas where he attended through the eighth grade. Upon settling in Hobart, he started his adult career at United Supermarket where he was called "Joe United". Jose married Maria Pecina in Fort Worth, Texas on December 20, 1965. From this marriage they had four children (Jesse, Carmen, Urbano, & Vincente) that were raised in Hobart, Oklahoma. Jose also served his country in the Oklahoma National Guard, receiving an honorable discharge in December 1967. Jose also worked for many farmers in the area as a laborer as well as hosting an hour long Hispanic program on the radio on Saturday mornings, sponsored by United. In the late seventies, he worked for Holman Dental Lab, as a dental technician. In 1984, he started a career for Anderson Oil Company as a pumper. He retired in 2009, due to health issues.
Jose was a good and loving son, brother, husband, and grandfather who always put his family first.
