Johnny Max Block

June 25, 1939 — May 23, 2013

Johnny Block, was born on June 25,1939 in Hobart to Elmer and Velma (Stephens) Block. He grew up on the family farm northeast of Roosevelt, where he passed away on May 23, 2013. Johnny started farming before he graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1957. He married Paula Miller on July 9, 1960. They were blessed with three children, Pamela Kay, Darrell Wayne, and Richard Max, who died shortly after birth. In the 1960s he and long time friend Wayne Kimray operated a gas station in Roosevelt. Johnny worked at area livestock sale barns for 20 years, and then in the grain business for 20 years. He remained an active farmer as well. He served as secretary and president of the Roosevelt Fair Board, and was active in the Little Britches Rodeo Association and other community projects. Johnny was a charter member of the Grand National Horseman Association, instilling in his own children and scores of other children the tenets of good sportsmanship, and a love of horses. Johnny's three grandsons were the pride and joy of his retirement years.

He is survived by his wife Paula of the home,
one daughter, Pam Taylor and husband J.D., Roosevelt
one son, Darrell and wife Angela, Roosevelt
three grandsons, Chance Taylor and Conner and Braden Block
one sister Betty Broadus, Oklahoma City
special cousin Peggy Troy, Lawton, OK
sister-in-law, Liz Block, Roosevelt, OK
a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Dale, and infant son Richard Max

Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013
First Baptist Church, Roosevelt, OK

Rev. Tim Tutten
Burial will follow in the Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart, OK under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home in Hobart.

The family with greet friends 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, May 27th, 2013 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, Roosevelt, OK , the Washington Street Baptist Church or the Roosevelt Fire Department
