Johnnie H. Sears, 93, long-time resident of Roosevelt, OK. She was born in Lone Wolf, OK to John Wilson and Georgia Helena Johnson Higgins. Johnnie graduated from Lone Wolf High School and then graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1938. She married Douglas A. Sears on October 10, 1941 in Fort Cobb, OK while attending the University of Oklahoma. She was a member of the Girls Trio and the Choral Club, under the direction of Jesse Lone Clarkson. Johnnie was also a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, Anational Music Organization and a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She taught school in Lone Wolf for four years and in Roosevelt for 34 years. Johnnie taught the second grade for 2 years and the first grade for 36 years. After she retired she became a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Retired Teachers Honorary Organization. Johnnie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roosevelt, OK
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Willa Mae Banks, husband, Douglas A. Sears, and son Dr. John Douglas Sears.
