John Long

John Freeman Long, 70, died at home in Cordell, Oklahoma on May 1, 2024. He was born on March 10, 1954, in Geary, Oklahoma to Orville and Joanne (Stough) Long. John graduated from Cordell High School (Class of 1972) and attended the University of Oklahoma. He remained a Sooner fan the entirety of his life. He rarely missed watching an OU football game, and he followed the recruiting closely. The things that John loved the most were his cats, his niece, and his nephews, and they all loved him back. For those who were lucky enough to know John as a friend, he was always caring, kind, and loyal.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his brother, Jim Long of Dallas, Texas; his brother, Joe Long and wife Heidi of Norman, Oklahoma; his niece, Kassidy Long of Norman, Oklahoma; his nephew Karson Long of Wichita, Kansas; and his nephew Konrad Long of Norman, Oklahoma.

Those wanting to do something in memory of John should spend extra time today with their pets. John was especially grateful for the merciful care that Dr. Greg Turner provided to John's cats, Tiger and Samantha.
