John Ketcher, III, 71, Anadarko, Oklahoma departed this life on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at the Physicians Hospital in Anadarko; following a lengthy illness. John was born on June 5, 1944, at Tahlequah, Oklahoma to John and Susie (Dry) Ketcher. John was employed by the Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs, where he faithfully served for 42 years. John retired in June, 2015.
John grew up in Tahlequah where he graduated from high school in 1962. John enlisted in the Army in 1966, and served in Vietnam until February, 1968. John was a graduate of Northeastern State College in Tahlequah.
John loved sports of every kind, but especially his OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys. He loved fishing, or at least acquiring new fishing poles frequently. John loved to shoot bow and attended many shoots with his best bud, Tom Gouge. They would often return home with a carload of chickens which they won as prizes.
John is survived by his wife Rhonda, of the home; his children, Kevin Pyle and wife Heather, Anadarko, OK; Christy Pyle, Anadarko, OK; Grandson, Jacob Pyle, Anadarko; Brother Jerry Ketcher and wife Lenora, Tahlequah, OK; nephew, Jeremy Ketcher and great-nephews, Jacob and Justin Ketcher, Tahlequah, OK; father in law Ronald Taylor, Anadarko, OK; sister in law, Patricia Taylor and steve Cook, Anadarko, OK; many other nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and infant sister, his mother in law Jean Taylor, and his faithful companion, "Petey".
Funeral Services will be, Thursday, October 22, 2015,2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Anadarko
Burial will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, OK, under the direction of Steverson Funeral Home, Anadarko, OK
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, October 21, 2015, 6:00 p.m., to 8:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. John will be available for viewing beginning Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Steverson Funeral Home.
