John B. Brewer

John Brewer, 87, a former Gotebo resident, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was born November 21, 1925 in Mena, Arkansas to John and Minnie (Fryar) Brewer. John married Helene Opitz on January 18, 1947 in Hinton, OK. He spent his younger years in Arkasas before moving to Oklahoma. John owned and operated the Brewer's Grocery in Gotebo from 1962 - 1988. He worked for Safeway many years in Oklahoma and California. John was a member of the Fellowship Lutheran Church in Tulsa, OK.


Survivors include his wife, Helene of the home in Ft. Smith, AR
two sons: Don Brewer and wife Gail, Ft. Smith, AR
Paul Brewer and wife Shana Brewer, Rogers, AR
six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Philip, brother Harold and three sisters:
Beatrice, Minnie Lou and Ruby Ann.
