John Allen Best was born April 30, 1930, in Washita County to John and Viola (Brubaker) Best. He passed away at the age of 86 in Weatherford, Oklahoma. John attended and graduated from High School in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma. John married the love of his life Eva Dene Blanton in 1951. They got married in Cordell at the "old" First Baptist Church. Some would say it was doomed from the start, the preacher forgot to show up, they had to find a relative that was legally able to marry them. John and Eva Dene were married for 61 years before her passing in 2012. John served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army. After his stint in the military he worked for a bank at the Fort Sill Base. He later went to work for the FAA and stayed until his retirement. John was a member of the Snow Hill Baptist Church in Tuttle, Oklahoma. He loved to quail hunt, fish and was a master gardner. John will be missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by sisters Pauline Edmunds of Edmond, Oklahoma; Helen Sheik and husband Robert of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Carolyn Heath and husband Larry of Cordell, Oklahoma; nieces, nephews and a host of dear family and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents; wife Eva Dene.
Services for John A. Best will be Tuesday, September 6, 2016, 2:00 PM at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Cordell with Rev. Ken Gardner officiating. Internment to follow at Lawnview Cemetery. Services ar under the direction of Ray & Martha's of Cordell, Oklahoma.
