John Hobart Artichoker, Iii

May 14, 1961 — July 11, 2023

John Hobart Artichoker III was born on May 14, 1961, to John Artichoker Jr. and June Boettger Artichoker in Pierre, South Dakota. John passed peacefully in his sleep on July 11, 2023. John attended high school in Glendale, Arizona and completed his senior year in Utah. He was a gifted athlete whose love of sports followed him throughout his life. During high school, John excelled at Shotokan karate, baseball, and football-- earning himself multiple football scholarships. John later attended the University of Oklahoma and then entered the professional workforce. Most recently, he worked as a weekend manager for New Pathways at the Comanche Complex. John was a popular guy who made friends everywhere he went. He thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of team sports, often taking the time to play softball and basketball. When he wasn't helping others or playing sports, you could find John hunting or watching professional wrestling. But if it was football season, you'd find him cheering on his favorite team, the OU Sooners, every Saturday. John was a proud member of the Kiowa Tribe. On his paternal side, he was Ho-Chunk from Wisconsin (which is where the Artichoker name comes from) and Oglala Lakota, where his father was enrolled. John is loved abundantly by family and friends alike. He will be dearly missed.
