Joe Milton Funkhouser, 96, of Hobart, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024, at the Fort Sill VA Center, Lawton, OK. He was born on February 5, 1928, to Paul David and Ida Mae (Smith) Funkhouser at Buzzard Mountain near Hobart, Oklahoma.
Joe grew up and attended school in Hobart, graduating from Hobart High School in 1946. Joe attended Abilene Christian University. He joined the Air Force in 1950 serving four years. He attended electronic school at Keesler AFB and was assigned to Forbes AFB at Topeka, KS. Joe was selected as Outstanding Airman of his organization. He flew status as an electronic technician and was an Electrical Counter Measures Supervisor. Joe met his loving wife Charlotte Neal and was united in marriage on July 21, 1952, in Topeka, KS. To this union were born three daughters; Deborah, Sue, and Lezlie. He moved the family back to Hobart to help his father farm. Joe worked as a car salesman for George Caudill Motor Company and as a Realtor in Hobart. Joe was a farmer and rancher in Kiowa County. He also owned and operated Hobart Nursery and Landscape in Hobart. Joe loved to write songs and poetry. He published a poetic book called "Them and They" and a CD called "Tales of Oklahoma". He promoted Oklahoma tourism through word and song and won many awards. While driving to the lodge you can see the redbud trees on King Mountain, think of Joe, he went up in a helicopter and dropped tons of seeds so the trees would grow. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Joe attended the Hobart Church of Christ where he was a member and deacon.

Great-Great Grandchildren: Rhett and Ria Jo
Preceded in death by Parents: Paul and Ida Funkhouser, Wife: Charlotte Funkhouser, Grandson: Chad Colhouer, Great-Great Grandchild: Reece Beck, and Sisters: Melba and Letha
