Jodie Perry Clark

March 13, 1921 — September 5, 2013

Jodie Perry Clark, 92, of Carnegie, OK passed away Thursday, September 5th, 2013 at the Carnegie Nursing Home. He was born to Roy Gree and Gay Nell (Irvin) Clark on March 13th, 1921 in Seminole County, OK. When he was a small child, the family moved between Gotebo and Cooperton for a short time. The family then moved to an 80-acre farm northwest of Alfalfa, OK where Jodie grew up. He attended school through the 8th grade at Caddo Valley and Alfalfa in Caddo County. The family later moved into Alfalfa for a short time then made their home northwest of Carnegie. He worked at various jobs as a young man. He and Clara Cotter dated for a year and a half during which time he asked her to marry him and said he would only ask her once. She told him she wasn't sure. They later decided to get married. They got married on December 31, 1952 in Anadarko, OK. After their 60th anniversary, Clara Mae laughed and said she still might not be sure. They lived briefly in Oklahoma City when first married then moved back to the Carnegie area. Jodie started doing farm work in 1958 for Floyd Clay and then later for John Clay and retired after working for the family over 50 years. Jodie and Clara Mae lived northwest of Carnegie for most of their married life and retired there. They were not blessed with children of their own, but had many nieces and nephews on both sides of their family they love dearly. These children along with neighbors and friends children spent lots of time staying with them and having a great time on the farm. Jodie was a Christian and was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Carnegie where he was on a church board and a deacon for 13 years. Both he and Clara Mae worked hard to help build up the church.

one brother, Ernest Clark and wife, Pat, Texas
sister-in-laws, Clota Anderson and Kathey Edge Cotter
the Clay family; and many nieces,nephews, family and friends

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Roy and Gay Clark, sister Gatha Faye Irvin, brother,Manuel Ray Clark, father-in-law and mother-in-law Charlie and Mary Zilla Cotter, brother-in-laws, Robert Irvin, C.W. Irvin, Claudie Irvin, Homer Cotter, Cleo Petross, L.D. Cotter, sister-in-laws, Ruby Cotter, Mae Clark, Juanita Petross and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services: 2:30p.m., Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Faith Assembly Church of God, Carnegie, OK
Burial will follow at Sappington Chapel Cemetery, North of Mountain View, OK
under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Carnegie
