Jimmie Leah Tsoodle

January 10, 1931 — August 31, 2013

Jimmie Leah (Reese) Tsoodle, 82, of Lawton, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, August 31 in Oklahoma City after a short illness. She was born on January 10, 1931 to Marguerite "Rita" Louisa (Berry) and Rora Reese in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Jimmie was a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and attended Seneca Indian School and Chilocco Indian Agricultural School where she was a member of the choir, Student fgTsoodle, Chilocco schoolmates, were married in April 19, 1949 in Vernon, Texas. They were married for 62 years before his passing in October 2011.

Jimmie had the toughest job of all - that of a Marine Corps wife. She cared for her family when Tubby was deployed overseas numerous times. She served as nurturer, disciplinarian, chauffer, seamstress and many other jobs too numerous to list while caring for their family in his absence. With much conviction and perseverance, Jimmie pursued and received her Licensed Vocational Nursing Degree through the Bellaire Hospital Nursing Program. Although she did not possess her high school diploma, the Director of Nursing saw something in her and took a chance on her and her instinct about Jimmie paid off. Upon completing the nursing program, Jimmie scored the highest test score ever noted at that time on the Texas Licensed Vocational Nursing exam. She went on to work as a nurse for many years in Houston, Texas, Edmond, Anadarko and Chickasha, Oklahoma.

She is survived by her daughters Candace Karan and her husband Bill Bartee of Bethany, Oklahoma, Linda Suzette and her husband Dave Meyer of Fallon, Nevada, and Nancy Gail Tsoodle and her husband Brett Moser of Lawton, Oklahoma; her son, Rodney Tsoodle, and his wife Lorri of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren and great-children, and one sister, Lavera "May" Middlebusher of Ponca City, Oklahoma and two brothers Ben Reese, Salem, Oregon and Roger Reese of Tacoma, Washington. She also leaves behind two beloved Sister-In-Laws, Alfreda Claus of Phoenix, Arizona and Peggy Tsoodle of Mountain View, Oklahoma.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Vernon "Tubby" Tsoodle; her son, Vernon Tsoodle, Jr.; her sisters Martha High, Katie Anderson and brothers Rora "Junior" Reese and Henry Reese.
