Jesse Harold Brown
Jesse was born in Centrahoma, Oklahoma on October 2nd, 1938, and passed away on May 15, 2024. Jesse was the third son to Samuel Marion Brown and Christine Williams Brown.
Jesse's dad moved the family from town to town working the farm crop. Towns he moved to in Oklahoma include Cement, Lake Valley, Tipton, Martha, Altus, Waren, Oakhurst, Gotebo, Mountain View, Tulsa, Verden, Humphreys, and Friendship. Towns in Texas Jesse moved to include Stenett, Level Land, Mule Shoes, Borger, Chillicothe, and Quail. Jesse also lived in three towns in Arizona, Clay Pool, Lower, and Miama. This transient nature of his early life led Jesse to attend many different schools.
Jesse was drafted into the Army in 1961, and while home on leave in 1962, Jesse married Sherry Dirickson in Mountain View. To this union was born Lori, Christi, and Clint. Jesse also has three grandchildren, Nathan, Sierra, and Nicholas.
In 1972 Jesse moved to Anadarko. Jesse worked many different jobs in Anadarko. First was Mountain View police. Then he worked for Kiowa County as an equipment operator and carpenter. He then welded in Anadarko, before building horse trailers in Chickasha. Jesse also worked for Caddo County as a heavy equipment operator, and welded in the oil field. Later in his career, he worked at Hollytex as a steam boiler operator, and last but not least, Jesse was a maintenance man for the Anadarko Hospital. Jesse had many interests, horses being a big interest of his. Jesse broke horses to ride, had chickens since he was a boy, and even raised parakeets, guineas, and pigs. Jesse always had a garden, as well. Jesse had fighting chickens and won enough matches to buy a new pick-up.
Jesse had several hunting dogs, but the best was his dog J.R., who was a coon hunting champ. Jesse and J.R. won a pick-up bed full of trophies together. Another little mutt was a great squirrel dog, was as smart as dogs come, she was Magie Sue Brown.
Jesse and his dad often hunted together which gave him much pleasure and great memories. Jesse went with his brothers, nephews and son camping, hunting and fishing to Colorado several times. He often fished in the river and gave fillet fish to elderly neighbors.
Jesse loved to golf and had two holes in one at Fort Cobb. Jesse canned pepper relish and entered it in County fairs. He received blue ribbons and a big purple ribbon for best of show for his relish.
Jesse also substitute taught at Verden School in the Ag. department. He also helped coach baseball there. Jesse loved people, especially children and he knew people everywhere he went.
Jesse was saved in Mountain View, and was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Jesse and Sherry divorced in 2004. Jesse met Mary while working at the Anadarko hospital. Jesse and Mary had a lot in common and made their home together on Square Top Rd. in December of 2004. Jesse and Mary like to entertain. Duck hunters came from Louisiana and ate at their table every year. They love to have dinners and sing-a-longs at their home with church friends and friends from the Borden center in Chickasha where they like to dance.
Jesse and Mary didn't know how many years they would have together, but they enjoyed everyday. They watched the plants and tree they planted grow. They raised horses, chickens, guineas, and canaries. They loved listening to the beautiful singing of the canaries.
Jesse was especially proud of his grandson Nathan, who he and Sherry raised. Another grandson of Mary's was little Ty Gabehart who often stayed with them. Jesse watched him grow and learn how to shoot his BB gun. Jesse loved him like his own grandson. Jesse filled his life with his hobbies and loved ones. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
