Jervin Nathaniel Riddle was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma on January 1, 1945 to Joe and Zelma Riddle. Jervin was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth and Alvin Riddle; one sister, Carolyn Perry; and daughter, Precious Riddle. Jervin attended elementary and high school in Anadarko. During his junior and senior high school years, Jervin became an outstanding baseball player, and had several write - ups in the local newspaper. He played in baseball leagues throughout Anadarko, and even caught the eye of scouts from the major leagues. After high school, Jervin completed two tours of duty in Vietnam, while serving in the United States Army. After returning home, Jervin began attending Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma. In May 1973, Jervin graduated from Langston with a Bachelor of Science degree, with an emphasis in Mathematics. Jervin moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1972. A few years later, Jervin began teaching Algebra classes at Pioneer Community College. During this time, he met future wife, Regina Bruce; and in 1982, Jervin and Regina were married. Shortly afterward, Jervin began working as a tax preparer for Mr. Tax. In 1980, after the urging of several clients, Jervin began his own business, Personal Tax and Accounting. He never paid for advertising; clients heard about him by word -of-mouth. Jervin retired in 2010, with more than 500 clients. Jervin really enjoyed tax season. He could hardly wait to spend time with his clients to talk about their children and grandchildren, especially those clients who had moved out of town and returned to Jervin for tax services. His wife, Regina, would schedule Jervin 's appointments so he could have at least four to five hours to catch up on lost time with his clients. Some clients would even mail their taxes to him to be prepared. If clients weren 't able to pay at the time of service, Jervin would allow them to pay him for their tax services after they received their refunds (a service they could never receive from H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt, or any other tax firm). During family gatherings, especially major holidays (such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year 's Day), everyone looked forward to Jervin 's mouth-watering home-made rolls and candied yams. Jervin and Regina enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren, family members and friends. They also enjoyed traveling to family reunions and cruising to other countries. Jervin leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 35 years, Regina Riddle, one daughter Dawn Nicole Kirkland (Plano, TX); Jervin Riddle, II. (KCMO); one step -daughter, Antoinette Rice; one step-son, LaMont Smith (KCMO); one sister, Ada Riddle (Jake) of Anadarko, OK; one brother, Joe Riddle (Odem) of Anadarko, OK; fifteen grandchildren; eight great - grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.
