Jerry Maxwell "Doc" Bonham, 86, of Cordell, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully October 6, 2020 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, following complications from a fall. Born to John and Minnie (Maynard) Bonham in Rocky, Oklahoma, Jerry attended school in Cordell, graduating as class valedictorian from Cordell High School in 1952. Following high school, Jerry attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1958. Jerry married Patsy Patterson June 28, 1958, and to this union were born two children: Susan Jill and Ronald Steven. "Doc" began his veterinary practice west of Cordell in 1958, servicing both large and small animals. He is known throughout not only western Oklahoma but across the nation for his knowledge and his many years of service and dedication to animal health. His passion for his profession for 62 years is unsurpassed. He believed in working hard, serving others, and there is nothing he loved more than watching a good steer show�a trait he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Jerry was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cordell, Oklahoma. He will be so deeply missed by his many customers and acquaintances, and especially by his family.
