Exuberant, Humorous, Tenacious, Devoted, Expressive and so much Fun! Mrs. Jean Esther Guesby was born July 24th, 1939 to the Late Prince Pendarvis and the Late Sarah Oliver Pendarvis Hopgood. The Second child born to this union, she was leaned upon to assist with the daily care of her siblings. And she did so with great pride and honor. Although the Late Betty Jean (husband Leon Head) was the eldest sister , Delores (Johnson), Princetta (Pendarvis), Rose Mary (Odum), the Late Dorothy Ann (Pendarvis), and their only brother the Late Charles (wife Verna Pendarvis) were insisted upon by Jean to obey and allow her to be boss. Sisters Charlotte (Hopgood), Geneva (Hopgood), Jeanette (husband Lorenza Thomas) and Ellen (Hopgood) were treasured and also influenced by Jean to always remember and rest assured that Big Sister would always take careful care of them.
Jean was united in marriage to the Late James Thurman Guesby Jr. on April 6, 1973. These childhood sweethearts were reunited on March 31, 2015 at 6:30 P.M. and will celebrate forty-two years of marriage.
A member of Morning Star Baptist Church, Jean was ever faithful and could be found every Sunday Robed in Crimson and joyfully singing praise and adoration to her King. Later years she joined Grace Christian Fellowship, where she was deeply loved and looked upon as a mother in the church.
