Bertie "Jean" Lindsey Barkley, 91, was born July 8, 1926 to SB and Nora (Gold) Lindsey in Hobart, Oklahoma. She was one of 13 children. Jean passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2017 in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
Jean received her education from the Gotebo Schools. As a young girl, she attended and was baptized in the First Baptist Church in Gotebo, Oklahoma. Jean married Jasper "Ray" Barkley on July 29, 1954 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She enjoyed reading and she read her bible daily, kept up with current events, spending time with family, and supporting the OU Sooners.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Ray in May 1984, her parents; SB and Nora Lindsey; five brothers Carl, Herrel, George, Obie, and Daniel, and six sisters; Dora Ellen, Juanita, Neoma, Erie Jewel, Mary, and Dorothy.
Survivors include one brother, Marvin "Bolivar" Lindsey and wife Loretta of Porter, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2017, at Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home.
