As a young boy, Jim attended a tent revival and became a Christian. He lived his life as a servant of the Lord. Jim graduated from Colbert High School in OK. He attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Physics. Jim served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962-1965 as a First Lieutenant Missile Launch Officer stationed at Plattsburgh, NY.

One of Jim's greatest accomplishments was working in the bus ministries of the churches that he attended, including Sequoyah Hills Baptist Church and Memorial Baptist Church. He visited his bus route families every Saturday, knocking on doors and inviting people to church. Jim moved to Anadarko, OK in 1982 where he worked at Western Farmers Electric Cooperative. He became a member of the First Baptist Church where he enjoyed serving in various capacities as a deacon, a bus minister, and a children's church worker. Jim eventually went to work as a civilian for Ft. Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma and retired as an Operations Research Analyst. Jim and Lucy remained faithfully together for 54 years until her passing on September 20, 2017. Jim retired from the church bus ministry after 49 years of service.
