James Carlos Kueter

July 21, 1924 — April 15, 2016

James Carlos Kueter was born on July 21, 1924 to John Henry and Augusta Ann (Eganhouse) Kueter in Bellevue, Iowa. He passed from this life on Friday, April 15, 2016 in Anadarko, with his family by his side. He was united in marriage to Rosemary R. Michel on October 19, 1945 in Bellevue, Iowa. They have been happily married for almost 71 years. Jim and Rosie are both members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anadarko.
Jim went into the U.S. Navy on December 1, 1942 and served until February 4, 1948. During World War II he served aboard the USS New Jersey, as well as several other ships during his enlistment. He was a Machinist Mate 1st class by the end of his service. When Jim got out of the Navy, he and Rosie moved to Lansing, Iowa. His experience as a machinist in the Navy proved to be valuable as he found work at a local electric power plant. Then as the Rural Electric Cooperatives were expanding, Jim moved his family to Anadarko to take a job at a new power plant being built there. Working at Western Farmers Electric Cooperative became a career for Jim where he worked for over thirty years. He retired from Western in 1984 as Plant Superintendent. After retirement he purchased a quarter section of land where he raised cattle. He and Rosie made many daily trips to the farm where they enjoyed feeding and working with the cattle. Jim was a loving husband and great father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie, of the home. Three sons, David Kueter of Oklahoma City, Jimmie (Pam) Kueter of Anadarko, and Gary (Carolyn) Kueter of Norman. One daughter, Diann (Kilbrent) Stephenson of Anadarko. Grandchildren, Jamie (Kevin) Creager, Erin (Taylor) Beier of Spring, TX; Derek (Melissa) Kueter of Chickasha, OK.; Todd (Barbara) Kueter of Frisco, TX.; Ryan Kueter of Norman, OK.; Brooke Stephenson (Amon Laurenzana) of Anadarko, OK.; Jordan Stephenson of Anadarko, OK. Great grandchildren, Kameron, Kayden, Braden, Brody, Kinley, Maren, Tyler, and Jase. Brother Mark (Glenna) Kueter and sister Joan (Russ) Schilling of Dubuque, IA. Numerous family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Augusta Kueter, an infant son, Ronald, brothers Maurice Kueter, Hugo Kueter, Richard Kueter, John Henry Kueter, and Cletus Kueter.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Anadarko Community Library, 215 West Broadway, Anadarko, OK., or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
