Jimmy Cotter, 67, of Carnegie, OK, passed away Thursday, March 6th, 2014. He was born February 24th, 1947, to Red and Mary Ellen (Satterlee) Cotter in Oklahoma City, OK. Jimmy attended school at Western Heights in Oklahoma City, OK. Jimmy moved to Carnegie in 1964 and worked with his Dad at Cotter's Auto Salvage, later on his two younger brother joined the family business. He met and married Caroline Fite in 1965, they had one child Debra. Jimmy was a mechanic and had his own business in Carnegie, he also had an auto body shop "Jim's Paint & Body" in Mt. View, where his artistic side came out. His grandson remembers how easy math was for him, and that he didn't need a calculator, he said without help from his Pop, he wouldn't have graduated with an A in math. Jimmy enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas with his friends and his Dad and brothers. A motorcycle accident in his late 30's changed his life drastically and forever. He went to work for his Parent's in Ft. Cobb while recovering from the accident. Later he worked for several farmers around Carnegie, until he retired. After retiring, he helped his sister in law Elba care for his youngest brother Steve, who also suffered a brain injury in a motorcycle accident in 2007. A trip in the 90's, with his younger brother Steve and his Dad to see brother Rick in Arizona, became a journey for survival as they were stranded in a road block, for 14 hours, on I-40 at Tucumcari, NM, along with hundreds of motorists, due to a snow storm ahead. The stories from that adventure are still funny today, no matter how many times we hear them. Jimmy loved his family and family get to togethers, his family could always depend on him if help was needed, as could his friends. He enjoyed long conversations and telling stories. Jimmy will be missed by many.
