James Demus Boyd, 75, of Carnegie, Oklahoma, passed away July 28, 2016. He was born in Carnegie on November 15th, 1940 to Amos and Sarah (Powers) Boyd. He attended school at Dabney in Erick, Oklahoma. He married Ellen Childress on August 30, 1958 and they later divorced. He met Jean Dunlap and they spent many years together before finally getting married February 22, 2005 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Jean preceded him in death August 31, 2013.
James loved fishing and would fish down by the river, he'd stay out all hours of the night fishing. He'd call home to get another thermos of coffee and a bite to eat before going back to what he was doing. He would go with his brothers and go noodling, often bringing home large flatheads. Other than fishing, he enjoyed his time riding his old tractor looking after the cows.
He is survived by his first wife Ellen Boyd, Erick, Oklahoma, son James Darren Boyd Erick, Oklahoma and
four daughters; Linda Mombeni, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,
Kathy Crook, Erick, Oklahoma
Cindy Tice, Carnegie, Oklahoma
Bobbi Ramsey, Carnegie, Oklahoma
nineteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren with another on the way, and two great-great grandchildren with one more on the way.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Boyd, three daughters Debbie Laster, Peggy Evans Rhonda Tice, his parents Amos and Sarah Boyd, three brothers: Phillip Boyd, Buck Boyd, George Boyd, and one sister Sue Pair.
A Memorial Service for James Boyd will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Ray & Martha's Funeral Chapel, Carnegie, Oklahoma. Brother Jerry Tate will be officiating. Services are under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home.
