James Edward Baker, 83, of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away on March 21st, 2018 in Mangum, Oklahoma. James was born April 2, 1934 in Russell, Oklahoma to Roland Baker and Maudie Stephens Baker. James was a life long resident of Greer County. James married Barbara Sue Couch in November of 1953. After her untimely death in 1976, James married Melba Smith in 1978. James was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a Master Gardener and loved to share his produce with family and friends. He enjoyed going on walks. He was known as a great conversationalist who never met a stranger. James spent his working years as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Greer County before his retirement. He was a member of the Red River Cowboy Church in Mangum, Oklahoma.
James is survived by:
Son: Jim Edd Baker and wife Beverly of Elk City, Oklahoma.
Daughters: Twyla Rogers and husband Eddie of Mangum, Oklahoma.
Heather Seals and husband Ron of Moore, Oklahoma.
Sisters: Beverly Lentz of Houston, Texas.
Geraldine Kenfield and husband Gerald of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
19 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great-Great Grandchildren and numerous Nieces, Nephews and Friends.
James is preceded in Death by:
Wife: Barbara
Sisters: Betty Baker and Jolene Jamison.
Brothers: Billy Baker, Jerry Baker and Leon Baker.
Grandchild: Isaiah Weaver
Services for James will be held at 11AM, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Red River Cowboy Church in Mangum, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home, Mangum, Oklahoma.
