Imogene Holt

Imogene Holt, 90, of Cordell, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017, in Cordell.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, February 24, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Amanda B.P. Lockwood and Pastor Marvin J. Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday and Thursday from 9am to 8pm at Ray and Martha's Funeral Homes in Cordell.

Imogene was born in Cowden, Oklahoma, on December 3, 1926, to the late Carson and Otis (Treadaway) Morris. She graduated from Cowden High School in 1945 where she played guard on the 1944-45 championship basketball team. Following high school, Imogene attended Braun's School of Business in Oklahoma City. Upon completion of business school, she moved to Mountain View where she was employed by First National Bank as a teller. She was then employed by Cordell National Bank also as a teller. Imogene married Ed Holt on October 14, 1950, in Cordell. In 1951 she followed Ed's Air Force career to Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma. During this stint in Enid, they had their first child, Belinda Gail. Shortly after in 1952, Ed and Imogene were transferred to Big Spring Air Force Base in Big Spring, Texas. In 1954 they welcomed their second child, Eddie Morris. Later in 1954 they moved back to Cordell where she continued to raise their two children. Imogene worked at the curtain factory and helped Ed with Holt Farms where she hauled many loads of wheat to the elevators.

As a young girl, Imogene dedicated her life to Christ. She was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church in the Cowden Community. On April 1, 1956, she transferred her membership to the Cordell United Methodist Church. Imogene was involved in numerous civic and church groups including the Cloud Chief Extension Homemakers and the United Methodist Women's Group. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and Nanny.

Imogene was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Helen Armitage.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Ed Holt; daughter, Belinda Masters; son, Eddie Holt and wife Donna; five grandchildren: Chism Holt, Kyle Masters and wife Dayna, Tanner Holt and wife Alicia, Brad Masters, and Colten Holt and wife Katey; nine great grandchildren: Keegan Holt, Sage Stewart, Kaylin Holt, Braxton Holt, Brayden Holt, Bentley Masters, Haylee Holt, Ava Willingham, and Georgia Willingham; a sister, LaVonna "Muggs" Dickerson; and numerous other family members and friends that loved her dearly.
