H. C. (Rick) Harper passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2018 and has now joined his loving wife (Sally) of 53 years in heaven. He was born on January 2, 1928 in Peacock, Texas. He served his country honorably during WWII in the Navy and ultimately was stationed in San Diego, CA where he met the love of his life Marcella (Sally) Malloy and were joined in life's beautiful journey on April 3, 1948. After leaving the Navy, the couple moved back to Texas then ultimately to Shawnee, Oklahoma where he worked as an electrician for an aircraft company. In 1957, Rick was hired at Western Farmers Electric Cooperative in Anadarko, Oklahoma where he worked until his retirement in 1995. During his time at Western, he worked in both Operations and Engineering where he led, mentored and worked alongside many tremendous individuals who helped Western meet and serve the needs of its member cooperatives. He so much enjoyed electric cooperatives and what they stood for and he instilled that belief in many.
He and Sally loved to travel, camp and enjoy the outdoors with family and friends. He loved playing golf with his sons, grandsons and friends and that love led him into starting a golf shop that served many in the Anadarko area. He was very active and engaged in Kiwanis local club and the Masonic Lodge of Anadarko.
He is survived by his three sons: Ron, Fort Collins, CO; Steve, Anadarko, OK; Randy, Potts Camp, MS.; his Sister, Audie Gray and Brother, Chuck Harper both of Texas. He was also blessed to love and enjoy seven grandkids, Chris, ND; Heather, Yukon, OK; Randy Jr. MS; Mike, CO; Shawn, SC; Robert, MS; Todd, MS, and thirteen great grandkids all of whom made his life smile.
A Life's celebration will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at First Christian Church in Anadarko, Oklahoma with Richard Cox officiating.
