Helen R. Kimray-May, age 93, former Roosevelt, Oklahoma, resident passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014, in Arvada, Colorado. Helen was born in Rodley, Colorado, on June 7, 1921, to Raymond L. and Nellie H. Kimray. She was raised on a farm east of Roosevelt, with her parents, sisters, Bonita, and Nelda, and brother, Leonard. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1939. Together, Helen and her husband Harvey May, were among the first to water ski at Lake Altus-Lugert. She was a bookkeeper at NASA for many years before retiring and traveling extensively across the United States. She lived in Lawton, OK, Houston, TX, San Antonio, TX, and Russellville, AK, prior to moving to the Denver area in 1995.
Helen May is survived by her sister, Nelda Gfell, of Arvada, CO, brother Leonard Kimray's partner, Barry Fowler, of Huntsville, AL, granddaughter, Deborah May-Davis, of Ft. Worth, TX, 3 great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, 5 nieces, 5 nephews and their families.
Helen May is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Nellie Kimray, husband, Harvey May, son, Sherry May, brother Leonard Kimray, sister Bonita Smith and brothers-in-law, Walter Smith and Gilbert Gfell.
