Harry Alva Welch Jr., 72 of Dill City, Oklahoma, passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2024, in Cordell, Oklahoma. He was born on June 27, 1952, to Harry and Mary Lou (Braisher) Welch in Binger, Oklahoma. Harry grew up and attended school in Eakly, Oklahoma and graduated in 1970. Following soon after he enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably for four years.
Upon leaving the military, Harry started working in the oil field driving dozers. He later would move to Mountain View and work for Kiowa County District 1. Looking for a change he went to work at the North Fork Correctional Facility in Sayre, Oklahoma. He served as a Sargent for eight years. He considered every person at the facility his family. Anyone that knew Harry also appreciated his love for a fast car. He owned many sports cars and there was no speed limit when behind the wheel.
Harry is survived by his wife Arlene of the home in Dill City, Oklahoma. Daughter, Nicole Kriss of Frederick, Oklahoma. Grandchildren, Emeri Bristol and Casius Bristol of Frederick, Oklahoma. Brothers, Mike Welch of Sayre, Oklahoma, Ronald Russ and wife Marla of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Dale Russ and wife Carol of Cedar Lake, Oklahoma. Sisters, Deborah Clark, of Carnegie, Oklahoma, Mary Beth Schultz and husband Charles of Westminster, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Mary Lou Welch and sisters Kaye Welch Zimmerman, Wandena Welch Moore, and Anna Lee Welch.
Harry "Junior" was a wonderful man who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
