Grady L Howard

January 13, 1922 — May 18, 2017

Grady Lee Howard , 95 of Anadarko, Oklahoma was born January 13th, 1922 in Caney, Oklahoma. He passed from this life May 18, 2017 at the Lawton, Oklahoma Vet Center. Grady was born to John and Alpha (Dollar) Howard. As a child he attended Caney schools and when he became of age to help the family he began farming with his dad. After the age of 20 he was drafted to the United States Army and served in WW11. He served only 2 years before his medical discharge in 1944. After he returned home and met the love of his life Jessie Sink, they married in 1949. They moved to Pueblo, Colorado where Grady opened his own barber shop. They had two children Dennis Howard and Sonja Witt. They all moved back to Anadarko in 1975. In 1987 Grady and Sonja started their adventure together at the corner of 1st and central at Sonja's Drive Thru. When he wasn't following his daughter around the drive thru he was at the Senior Nutrition Center playing domino's with all hill buddies. He later went on to buy some cattle. "His babies" He also loved to sit at the bowling alley and drink his coffee and talk with all his friends. Grady moved to the lawton, Oklahoma Vet Center 5 years ago after Sonja's health started to decline. He loved it there. He made new domino buds and kept playing. He was a very ornery man with a heart of gold. While at the center he developed a loving relationship with everyone but there are two very special people there that he loved as his own. Patty, his favorite. She could fix anything. Brenda, his nurse. These two woman went above and beyond for his care and we are forever grateful that they loved him as much as they did. I don't know what we would have done without these very special, kind women.
Grady is survived by: His granddaughter Melissa Vance and husband Jeremy Vance.
1 grandson Ryan Anderson
1 great granddaughter Cheyenne Vance and
2 great grandson's Lyndon and Matthias Vance.
He is also survived by Judy Ortiz and her husband Jim and

He is proceeded in death by: his parents John and Alpha (Dollar) Howard,
Brothers John, Wesley, and Francis Howard. Sisters, Edna, Wanda, Jewel, Virginia. Wife Jessie Howard. 1 son Dennis howard and 1 daughter Sonja Witt.
