Obituary for Grady Dulworth Jr.
Grady Dulworth, Jr., 89, was born June 19, 1930 in Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Grady L. Dulworth Sr., and Lonie Belle (Davidson) Dulworth. Grady passed peacefully from his earthly life surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 15, 2019, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Grady was 14 years old when his father, Grady Sr., passed away. Grady then became man of the house and assisted his mother Lonie with raising his younger siblings Delores and Larry Joe, in addition to working at the family laundry.
Grady graduated high school from Anadarko with the class of 1948. After high school, he met his beautiful soon to be wife Zetta while she was working at the TG&Y store. In 1951, they married in Bangor, Maine while Grady proudly served his country with a four-year enlistment (1951-1955) in the United States Air Force. During his service he fought overseas in the Korean War.
Since the young age of 13, Grady had been working for Frank Elkouri in downtown Anadarko at The Famous Store. Grady eventually opened his own business, Grady's Shoes. When it came time for Frank to retire, Grady then took over The Famous Store. During the many years The Famous Store was open, Grady would make sandwiches every morning to hand out to those who were in need.
Grady enjoyed taking pictures of his family, Thunder Basketball, and Oklahoma State Football. Above all though, Grady loved God. He spent time reading his Bible and praying for others every day. He was an active member and dedicated deacon of the First Assembly of God Church. He was also a longstanding member of the Lions Club serving in several leadership roles.
Grady was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Zetta, and brother Larry Joe.
He is survived by his son Daniel (wife Caroline) of San Diego. His daughter, Gayla Stephens of Anadarko, who unselfishly donated many years of loving care and assistance, his grandson, Joseph, granddaughter Samantha Talli, great granddaughter Carly, sister Delores Butts (husband Bob), along with many loving nieces, nephews, in laws, cousins and other relatives and friends. Grady, Daddy, Papa, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather will be truly missed, but we will carry his legacy on.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday Sept 19,2019 at 10:00am at the First Assembly of God Church, Pastor Eugene Howeth, officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home.
