Obituary
Today we should celebrate the long life of Gladys. She truly was a "LADY" that lived life her way.
Gladys A. Schiffner was born March 29, 1908 in Sedgwick Co, Kansas. She left this world on Friday, May 21st, 2010.
Gladys was born to Omer S. and Minnie Bell ( Rathbun ) Parker. She lived in Kansas until she moved to Oklahoma as a young lady. When her family moved to Blackwell, OK, they traveled in a covered wagon. Gladys married Alfred Allard in Kay Co., OK.
After their marriage she moved to California where she lived most of her life. In her later years of life she moved back to
Roosevelt, OK.
Gladys united as a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Downey, CA. where she was baptized. She loved flowers, in fact when she moved to Oklahoma she moved several Iris plants of which were a black Iris. She lived alone while continuing to work in the yard until she was in her 90s. She Adhered to a very strict diet which did not included process foods.
Gladys was a unique person and tried to live life as she believed Jesus would want her to. She was always anxious to speak about her beliefs and could quote from the Bible in all conversations. She was a mother, a true friend, and a good neighbor, helping when she could.
Surivors include: one daughter Betty Ruth Allard Miller and husband Kenneth of Roosevelt, OK
Two grandchildren: Ken and Rose Miller, San Diego, CA
Cheryl and Martin Estachio, Oak Hill, CA
Five great-grandchildren: Dena, Travis and Justin Miller and Marty and Eric Estachio
Three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Alfred and Earl and two sisters, Vera and Jessie Parker.
Graveside service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2010 Roosevelt Cemetery
