Gladys Grace Chairess

Gladys Grace (Phy) Chairess, 89, passed away Wednesday, October 9th, 2013, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born to Maggie and Marion Phy on February 19th, 1924, in Hobart, Oklahoma, where they lived
most of her life. She then met Austell Theodore Chairess and they fell madly in love and married November 3rd, 1944, and together they had four children. Gladys loved cooking, she especially enjoyed cooking the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for the whole family. She had a true talent when it came to cooking which let her to owning her own cafe and worked for Fran's Cafe, until she was retired. Gladys and Austell then moved to the countryside in Blair, OK, to start their lives anew. Gladys loved being with her family, and her family cherished being with her as well. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren and her great-great grandchildren. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Hobart, OK.

She is survived by one daughter, Pamela Jean Chairess Valentine, Blair, OK.

one sister, Sue Ellen Cornelius and husband Ronnie, Blair, OK,

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maggie and Marion Phy, one brother, Bobby Phy,
one sister Betty Jo Westberry, her husband Austell Theodore Chairess, two sons: Phillip Lee Chairess and Larry (Bruce) Chairess and one great-grandson, Robert Chase McCullar.
