Gilberto Vera Montalbo
February 5, 1933 — November 7, 2017
Gilberto Vera Montalbo, of Willow, Oklahoma, passed away November 7th, 2017, in Mangum, OK at the age of 84. He was born the son of Gonzalo and Guadelupe Vera Montalbo, February 5th, 1933 in Alamo, Texas.
Gilbert was a life long migrant farm worker, spending his days in fields of cotton, wheat, here in Oklahoma as well as orchards of citrus and vegetables farms in Northern California, going where he could best provide for his home and family. He has worked in co-ops in Willow, Altus and Humphreys and even the cotton gin in Willow. He was a private, humble man. He did have a passion for buying old cars to fix up and resell, and was known to be quite a salesman. He was a long time member of the Pentecostal Church, attending Iglesia Samaria in Altus, and Living Water Church in Mangum. He loved going to church and hearing the word, enjoyed Spanish Christian music, watching the old western movies, and being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his Daughters:
Elizabeth Escobedo of Willow, Oklahoma
Ester King and her fiance Emilio Rosalez of Carter, Oklahoma
His Grandchildren:
Carlos Rosalez of Carter, Oklahoma
Santos and Wife Destiny Montalbo of Mangum, Oklahoma
Samson Montalbo of Carter, Oklahoma
Armando Escobedo of Willow, Oklahoma
Abel and wife Vicky Munoz of Mangum, Oklahoma
Rachelle and husband Armando Gonzales of Altus, Oklahoma
Tito Munoz of Phoenix, Arizona
Desiree and husband Josh Harper of Mangum, Oklahoma
Samantha Montalbo of Mangum, Oklahoma
D.J. Draeger of Mangum, Oklahoma
and 21 Great Grandchildren.
He was the last of 7 children preceded in death by 2 sisters and 4 brothers, his Wife Jaunita, his son, Gonzalo Montalbo, and a grandson Benito Martinez III.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 10, 2017 9 AM to 8 PM at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Mangum, Oklahoma.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Living Water Pentacostal Church in Mangum, with interment to follow at Willow Cemetery.
