Gerald Fenton "Gary" Pettit, 78, of Anadarko, was born December 26, 1936, to Walter and Mae (Fenton) Pettit in Coos Bay, Oregon. He passed from this life on Monday, April 20, 2015 in
Anadarko.
Gary was born, raised and attended school in Coos Bay. He proudly joined the U.S. Navy when
he was 17 years old. After four years of service to his country, Gary was honorably discharged.
He joined the Operating Engineers Union and went to work as an offshore crane operator
retiring in 1999. Gary and Peggy Rush were married on June 21, 1981, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The
couple traveled most of their married life while Gary worked on offshore cranes. They moved to
Anadarko in May of 2010.
Gary loved fishing, gardening and taking care of his lawn. Gary made a profession of faith in
Jesus Christ while attending Bethel Baptist Church in Aumsville, Oregon. He joined the
Anadarko Church of the Nazarene in Anadarko in 2010.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter and Vivian Pettit and Mae and Grey Landers.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy of the home; four children, Teresa Miller of Vallejo, California,
Gary {Bud) Pettit of Longview, Washington, Rhonda Nixon and her husband, Nick of Anadarko
and Rick Rush and his wife, Tami of Chickasha; seven grandchildren, Chase Miller and his wife,
Michelle of Vallejo, California, David Pettit of Portland, Oregon, Andrew Pettit, of Longview,
Washington, Chris Walsh and his wife, Amber of Chickasha, Nick Walsh and his wife, Lori of
Dibble, Oklahoma, Bethany Bakke and her husband, Chad of Chickasha and Jimmy Nixon and his
wife, Melissa, of Carmel, Indiana; nine great grandchildren; four siblings, Charity Phillipi and her
husband, Wesley, of Yakama, Washington, Sharon Church and her husband, Jim of Salem,
Oregon, Betty Cash of Portland, Oregon, Johnny Landers of Eugene, Oregon; several nieces,
nephews, and other relatives and friends, including special great, great nieces, Desiree Vassol,
who lived with Gary and Peggy while both parents were serving in Iraq and Jamie Austin, who
also lived with Gary and Peggy.
A memorial service will be held at 10 A.M., Friday, May 8, 2015, at the Anadarko First Church of the Nazarene.
