George "Dugan" Tahbone, Sr., 85, Mountain View, OK went home on November 4th, 2010. George was born on February 28th, 1925 to Dominick and Wihelmina Calisay Kodaseet. He was a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma. He was the grandson of Thogomegatty, Calisay, Blackhorse and Taupahma. He was raised at Zoletone with his brothers and sisters. As a child, he attended Sedan School, St. Patricks Indian Mission and Riverside Indian School. He participated in baseball and football at Riverside, where his football team went undefeated . At 17 years of age and in his final year at Riverside, George enlisted in the United States Navy. He fought in World War II, the Korean War, and a Campaign in Indo- China. In his military career, he served on the USS Pasadena, USS Pawnee, USS Indiana, and the Charles P. Cecil. He received numerous medals including the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, National Defence Service Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Pin, and a Discharge Button. His foreign awards include a Philippines Ribbon, Liberation with one bronze star, and a Presidential Unit Citation-Philippines. On December 31, 1947 George was married to Marjorie Queton by the Reverend Venable in Mountain View, OK. George and Marjorie had four sons, two of which died in infancy. After 17 years in the military, George was honorably discharged as a BM3 Driver. Afterwards, he worked as a diesel mechanic for Cummins Diesel in Fort Worth, Texas. He worked there until his retirement on July 31,1987. After his retirement, he and Marjorie moved back home to Mountain View, OK, to be near his family and friends, where he enjoyed spending time at the Kiowa Tribe Elder Center. George was a member of the Kiowa Museum Advisory Board and was a former Kiowa Business Committee Member. He was a member of the Texas Tia-Piah Society where he served as a Headsman for many years. He was also a member of the Kiowa Original War Dancers, Kiowa Warrior Descendants, and the Kiowa Blackleggings Society. He also served as Ceremonial Chief for the O-ho-mah Lodge. In addition, George held the position as Grandpa Rabbit, which he received from his grandpa Linn Pauahty, for the Kiowa Tia-Piah Society. This position enabled him to be a part of countless children's lives and helped to teach values and morals thru oral tradition. Later in life, George received an honorary high school diploma from Mt. View-Gotebo High School, which he was very proud to have received.

ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and all his Little Rabbits.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, one sister Eleanor (Jenny), four bothers, Raymond, Donald Emerson, Edward Clayton (Bugaloo), John Alden Flyingman, two infant sons, one granddaughter and one grandson.
