George Patrick (Buck) Sokolosky, 85, of Fort Cobb passed away on March 8, 2016 in Oklahoma City. "Buck" wa borned in Yukon, Oklahoma on March 16, 1930 to Josephine (Botch) and George Sokolosky. After graduating from Yukon High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during The Korean War. He wed Paula Rutledge on September 1, 1951 in Columbia, South Carolina whom he adored and cared for until her death in July 2015. Buck and Paula resided in Yukon with their three children until moving to Fort Cobb in 1963 Where he managed the Kerr McGee Farm and Chemical Supply. In later years, he was a chemical rep for Cargil and traveled across Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle. He loved to work in his yard and spent many hours landscaping and caring for it. The front yard was beautiful but the back yard was even better. Buck loved his loyal companions "Toby" the fat dog and "Mouse Trap" the cat. They kept each other company for many years. Buck was a member of the Rotary Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Fort Cobb Housing Authority. "Poppie" truly enjoyed life and above all loved his family, as they did him.
A graveside memorial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fort Cobb.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, parents-in-law, Ralph & Eleanor Rutledge, several brothers and sisters, and a great grandson, Lincoln Sokolosky.
He is survived by one daughter Nona and Terry White of Fort Cobb. Two sons; Kim and Donna Sokolosky, Fort Cobb, and Brian and Jan Sokolosky, Mineola, Texas.
Six grandchildren: Andrea and Brendon Atkinson, Enid, Allison and D.Bob Farmer, Ft. Cobb, Katy Sokolosky, Cordell, Kelly Sokolosky, Fort Cobb, Andrew and Jamie Sokolosky, McLean, Texas, and Jessica Solkolosky, Cabot, Arizona.
Seven great-grandchildren: Emma and Gracie Farmer, Jake and Willow Sokolosky, Ben, Owen, and Ella Atkinson. As well as one brother Gene Sokolosky, Yukon, two sisters Ruth Acre, Yukon, sister Veronica Sokolosky, Tulsa, sister-in-law Sue and David Stone, Oklahoma City, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Our Father gave us the greatest gift any one could give to another person, He believed in us.
