George Washington Bloom

George Washington Bloom, 86, passed away on June 9, 2010 at his home in Irving, TX. George was was born on December 27, 1923 to George W. and Kate ( Bullard ) Bloom in Hobart, OK. He was the 5th child of eight and took the responsibility of the family farm when his father passed away when George was 12 during the Great Depression. George tackled all the problems and situations with a sense of humor and optimism that served him all of his life.

George married Ruth Jurhee Dillingham in Hobart, OK on May 9, 1948. Ruth Jurhee preceded him in death in 1979. He then married Helen Flanagan DeChellis in February 1981. She preceded him in death in 2005. He was the ultimate caregiver to both wives who suffered long debilitating illnesses.

George was active in his church in Irving as well as his church in Hobart. Recently he completed the course of study known as Stephen's Ministry.

He is survived by his daughters, Lea Beth LaDue of Albuquerque, NM and Jana Lynne Ahlers of Chappell Hill, TX. George is also survived by his step-children, Anita Wheeler of Coppell, TX, Mac DeChellis of Houston, TX, Tony DeChellis of Forth Worth, TX and Teresa Brumfield of Weatherford, TX. He was a wonderful parent and will be greatly missed. George is also survived by 11 grandchildren ( natural and step ): Marc Welliver, Michael John DeChellis, Matthew James DeChellis, Maria Senftleber, Michelle Senftleber-Miller, Whitney Wheeler, Danielle DeChellis, John DeChillis, Anne Marie DeChellis, Eric Weaver, Tyler Weaver and also a great grand daughter : Bloom Marie Welliver.
