On October 4, 2018 Frederick lost its bluest Democrat. George Dixon Adams III, 72, of Frederick, Oklahoma, has passed away. He was born on August 3, 1946 in Gotebo, Oklahoma to George Dixon Adams II and Mamie Lorene (Evans) Adams. He was a Christian and was known by his children as a "pew rattler" for his deep baritone voice. He was a great storyteller. If caught exaggerating he would often tell you, "Well, it ain't the six o'clock news." He was very proud of having pitched in the American Legion Baseball League. However, his proudest accomplishment was his children.
He is survived by his children: Michele Adams-Krane and husband Greg of Pensacola, Florida,
Keely Adams and husband Patrick Williams of St.Joseph, Michigan,
George Dixon Adams IV and wife Sarah of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
and grandchildren Michael Firth, Paige and Taylor Krane, and Dean Jackson-Adams
as well as his sisters: Pat Wagoner of Edmond, Oklahoma
Carol Barber and husband Tim of South Carolina,
and Uncle Barton Baker of Hobart, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Betty Leinen.
George (aka Big George) was a voracious reader and loved science fiction. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to The Friends of the Library, 115 W. Grand, Frederick, OK 73542.
