Gatha Leroy Washington passed away on February 4, 2025, in Lawton,
Oklahoma. He was born on February 1, 1967, to Henry & Ida Mae (Jones) Washington in Clinton, Oklahoma. Leroy grew up and attended school in Hobart, graduating from Hobart High School in 1986. He was a man who lived with passion, love, and an unshakable sense of humor. Leroy's greatest love in life was his family. He was a devoted father to his children: Demetrius Miller , Samantha Nichols, Leanna Washington and Marcus Washington. His heart grew even fuller with the joy of his grandchildren, DeAndre' and Brexton Washington, and his great-grandchild, Zeremiah Washington. From a young age, Leroy formed a lifelong bond with his best friend, Craig Pruitt, a friendship that lasted from first grade and remained steadfast through the years. If there was one thing He loved as much as his family, it was fishing. Rain, sleet, or snow-no weather could keep him from casting his line. If it were possible, he would have spent every day on the water,
finding peace and joy in the rhythm of the waves. Leroy also had a deep
passion for gardening, taking pride in growing his own food and creating something beautiful from the earth. He came from a large and loving family, cherishing each of his siblings. Leroy had an immense love for his nieces and nephews, treating them as if they were his own. He was incredibly proud of each of them and held a special place in his heart, His love for family knew no bounds, and his presence in their lives was a source of joy, laughter, and wisdom. Leroy was a man who could light up a room with his one-liners and quick wit. He was a collector of canes, always finding joy in adding to his collection. But more than anything, he was a man who loved deeply, laughed often, and left an unforgettable impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be missed beyond measure but will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in his journey. Rest in peace, Leroy . May the waters always be calm, the fish always be biting, and the gardens forever be in bloom.
