Gary Lee Perry was born to Harvey and Elaine Perry in Clinton, Oklahoma, on September 10, 1959. He was taken home by our Lord on April 6, 2024. He was the middle child of three. Although he was born in Clinton, Gary and his family lived in Anadarko his entire life. This is where he grew up to be the man we all know and love today!
Many know him as the gasman but to us he was so much more. Gary was born a carpenter. No one knew it at that time, but as he grew older it became clear. Gary was a great craftsman indeed! His first project was to build his character that we all know and love. It was full of goofy splendor and pure heart! He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He was contagious! The next thing he built was his proudest achievement! A relationship with the love of his life, Mechele (Goucher) Perry. This relationship bloomed into 47 years of love and commitment, 44 of those were in a marriage that was something to be envied. During this time they were blessed with two beautiful kids, their spouses (bonus kids), and three grandbabies, plus one more on the way! Dustin and Sarah Perry, Ryleigh, Blakely, and a new little bundle of joy due in October, Amanda (Perry) and Matt Pulis, and Hunter. All of them were his pride and joy! He also had a strong relationship with his immediate extended family, he was a nail made of joy hammered into our hearts!
He built a strong family full of love based on a foundation of Jesus. He participated in every area of their lives including but not limited to baseball, girl scouts, camping, woodwork - you name it he was there! While doing all of the personal building he worked 35 years at Oklahoma Natural Gas, building relationships with people everywhere in his area. He retired 9 years ago. Thanks to the desire and skills passed down from his dad he built a love of carpentry. Gary passed that desire and skill on to his son, Dustin. Gary has built many projects for friends and family alike. His work was impeccable.
Gary will be forever loved and missed. You see, as the carpenter he was he built bridges with each of us that will never be broken! We love you dad, Guh, gasman, Gary!
Gary was preceded in death by Papa Harvey (his dad), Gordon and Doris Goucher (FIL and stepmom), Carl and Sue O'Neal (MIL and stepdad), Randy Perry (brother), Sabrina Birch (niece), Nathan Bedford, Darren Goucher, and David Leemhuis (great nephews).
Left to carry on his legacy are the afore mentioned family, his beloved mom Elaine Perry, Delores and Baldomero Garcia (sister and BIL) and family, Phyllis Goucher (SIL) and family, Deborah (Goucher) and John DeVaughan (SIL and BIL) and family, Chuck Goucher (BIL) and family, Traci (Goucher) and James Britt (SIL and BIL) and family. So many other special people in his life, too many to mention, and a multitude of other extended family and friends.
In remembrance of Gary's life and his love and support of his children, in lieu of flowers please send donations to the non-profit that Amanda is employed with: Center for Children and Families, Inc. at
