Gary Milton Franklin

February 25, 1938 — October 16, 2016

Gary Franklin was born February 25, 1938, Southeast of Cordell, OK to Victor D. and Mary Leona (Tucker) Franklin. Gary's family moved to Flintville, Tennessee when he was 5 yrs old but returned to a farm southeast of Cordell where he attended school at Mt. Pleasant for 3 years. He started school at Rocky in the 4th grade and graduated high school in 1956. Gary was active in FFA, where he was made Junior Master Farmer his Senior year. Gary was also active in basketball. He worked for Harley Johnson Service Station, plumbing and farming, Don Cannon in the body shop and later owned Gary's paint and body shop for 12 years until he had to sell out due to becoming allergic to the body filler. He also worked for Sewell Brothers Construction as a mechanic and a truck driver, Walters Well service, Cornell Construction Company for almost 16years and later had his own Water Well Pumping Service Company. Gary attended the Baptist Church east of Rocky and at Dill City and also attended the 1st Assembly of God Church in Cordell.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents; wife Pearl Franklin in 2012; daughter Dana Smith; infant brother Delbert Franklin.

Gary is survived by daughter Sherry Phipps of Pocasset; son Randy Franklin of Dill City; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter and 2 great grandsons; one sister Charlotte and husband Don Fischer of Ferris, Texas and a host of dear family and friends.

Graveside services for Gary Franklin will be Thursday, October 20, 2016, 10:00 AM at Lawnview Cemetery, Cordell, Oklahoma, with Nick Byrd officiating. Services will be under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home of Cordell.
