Garfield Littlechief

June 20, 1927 — January 19, 2019

Garfield Pierce Littlechief, 91, of Anadarko, Oklahoma passed away on January 19, 2019. He was born on June 20, 1927 to Thomas Littlechief and Mary Hummingbird in Washita, Oklahoma.

He was a proud member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma. He was a man of strong faith and a deacon at Red Stone Baptist Church, his home church. He graduated from Riverside Indian School. After high school he attended technical school in Fort Worth, Texas for electrical training.

His job history included: maintenance at the Caddo County Courthouse and the Anadarko Hospital, Sequoyah Mills, the Christian Center as recreation director, Riverside Indian School as a shack operator, boxing coach, and recreation director, Kiowa Housing Authority Commissioner, Riverside Alumni President and Delaware Nation CHR program as a van driver. He also once worked at Palace Pool Hall in Anadarko and was an awesome pool player.

He established the first Native American boxing team at Riverside. He not only raised his five daughters, but also his granddaughter, Patricia Littlechief. He was an avid fisherman and sports fan.

He was a supporter of the Anadarko Warriors and his grandchildren who played sports. He would sit in his spot at all Warrior games. He was also an avid OU Football, Thunder Basketball, Dallas Cowboys Football and a fan of The Golden Girls. He could be found in front of his TV watching a game.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Charles Pendarvis, a good friend, Elijah Keahbone, Kevin Toehay, Joseph Ware and Zachary Keahbone, his grandsons and great-grandsons.
