Freda Pearl (Quine) Fleck, departed her earthly home to be with her heavenly father on Friday October 15, 2021. She was 96 years, 7 months and 29 days old. She had suffered for over 40 years with crippling rheumatoid arthritis. She was born
February 16, 1925, Washita County, Oklahoma, the daughter of William Alanzo and Ruby Mae (Nix) Quine. On July 18, 1943 she was united in marriage to Raymond Fleck in Thomas County, Kansas. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on December 16, 1991. Also going before her were two brothers and four sisters. She was an extremely loving and dedicated mother. Besides her home, she was a devoted Christian and very active in her church teaching Sunday school, summer bible school, singing duets with her husband, directing youth Christmas plays and whatever else needed to be done. She was known for her outstanding flannel graph Sunday school lessons. She was also an active 4-H volunteer's in Kiowa County, OK for over six years establishing the Hobart Teenage 4-H Club. Utilizing her creativity, her club often took home first place honors in "Share the Fun" contest, speech and demonstration competitions and countywide window displays. The club was recognized nationally for their outstanding community safety awareness program. Many of her club members were awarded college scholarships based on their 4-H project work.
Freda and Ray lived north of Cordell until 1949 when they rented a farm in Kiowa County, OK. They lived on the Guild Place until 1954 when they rented the Salisbury place which they eventually purchased. She worked at the Ben Franklin Variety Store in Hobart and then for the T. G. & Y. Company as floor supervisor of one-half of the store. After the death of her husband, she moved to Cordell, OK where she lived until 2009.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty (Dwight) Crum of Sinking Spring, with whom she made her home since September 2009. She is survived by one brother, Paul Quine, Oklahoma City and very special friends, Cindy (Scott) Fronnyberg and LeAnn and Bobby Blackburn of Cordell, OK. She is also survived by Brian and Becki Crum, Ty, Grant; Mallori (Crum) Johanson, husband Jason, Mali and Mataley, Denise (Crum) Dick, husband Darren, Caroline and Andrew and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Five extra special friends who helped care for her during her last difficult years, April Doss, Kassi Brunswick, Darlene Helterbrand, Sandy Crum and Donna Smith.
