Frances Alyne Hazelton 84, of Rocky, OK , passed away on Tuesday May 10, 2011, in Cordell Ok, following a lengthy illness. Frances was born November 3, 1926 in Rocky, to Henry Floyd Hammons and Carrie Obera (Tucker) Hammons. She grew up in the Rocky community and graduated from Rocky High School in 1944. Frances married Milton Varnell Hazelton on March 24, 1945 at her parents home east of Rocky. She lived in and around Rocky all her life except for a brief time at the end of World War II when Varnell was stationed at the naval yard in Chicago.
Frances went to work for the law firm of Tolbert and Gillespie in Hobart on April 12, 1948, where she worked until her retirement in 2006. However, her greatest passion was for her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was most proud of her granddaughters: Jennifer, who will marry her long-time fiance' in July; and Amanda, who graduated from High School on Wednesday.
She is survived by: one son: Bill and wife Carolyn, Littleton, Colorado
Two granddaughters: Jennifer Hazelton, Elizabeth, Colorado and
Amanda Hazelton, Littleton, Colorado
One cousin: Irene Leach, La Mesa, California
One sister-n-law: Dixie Hammons, Hugo, Oklahoma
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Dale Hammons,
and her beloved son, Jim Hazelton, who passed away in 2010.
Funeral Services will be ,10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 24th, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Rocky, OK. Burial to follow in the Hobart Rose Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or the Hobart Public Library.
