Floyd Willis Dennis

August 24, 1925 — November 8, 2013

Floyd Willis Dennis was born August 24, 1925, in Coleman, Oklahoma, the second son of Carl and Mae Belle (Williams) Dennis. He passed from this life on Friday, November 8, 2013, in Newcastle, Oklahoma

Floyd grew up in farming communities in Johnston County. He attended several schools, as the family moved from farm to farm, wherever the work took his parents. As the oldest living child, Floyd quit school to help the family. He took it upon himself to complete the necessary requirements and received his GED while in his sixties. Floyd was working for the railroad when he and Minnie Robertson married on December 26, 1944, in Madill, Marshall County, Oklahoma. To this union six children were born, two daughters and four sons.

Floyd enjoyed working on older automobiles which lead to him becoming an exceptionally good mechanic and heavy equipment operator. In the early 1940s, he helped to build the Denison Dam at Lake Texhoma. In 1951 he moved his family to California. In 1966 the couple started pastoring Indian Mission Churches while residing in Annapolis, California. They later pastored in Wellington, Shears, Fallon, Gabbs, Oklahoma City and Anadarko. He retired from C.E. Basic Incorporated, the largest magnesium mine in the world, October 1990 in Gabbs, Nevada. In retirement, Floyd and Minnie lived in Anadarko, Oklahoma and Dardanelle, Arkansas. His days were filled with gardening, canning, fishing, horseback riding, birdhouse building and general country past times.
