Evelyn Joyce (Unruh) Mulherin, 87, was born on October 7, 1934, to Dedan and Marie (Nightingale) Unruh in Carnegie, OK. She passed away on February 22, 2022, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Hydro, OK.
She graduated from Alden School in 1953. Evelyn married Donald on March 4, 1954, at her parents' home south of Carnegie, OK. They started a family in January 1955. They had one son and four daughters; Roland, Laura, Marilyn, Jane, and Jan. She worked at the Kingfisher and Thomas Hospitals as a nurse's aide. Later she worked at Corn Heritage Village in the dietary and laundry departments.
Evelyn was a seamstress, she made everything from pantsuits, dresses, long formal and wedding gowns to barbie doll clothes. Gardening was a big part of her life. Evelyn enjoyed fishing, camping, and having fun with her three brothers and one sister at Cache Creek. She was an excellent cook and her pies and rolls were well known.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Mulherin: parents, Dedan and Marie Unruh; three brothers, Leland, Nolan, and Arline Unruh; one sister Helen Bamberg; son-in-law, Duane Fike; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Mulherin.
She is survived by her five children; Roland Mulherin, Laura Fike both of Kingfisher, OK, Marilyn Simmons and husband Ray of Weatherford, OK, Jane Constant and husband Dave of Brookings, SD, and Jan Mulherin of Corn, OK; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
