Eva Allard Sparks, 102, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at McMahon-Tomlinson Nursing Center in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was the only daughter among six boys born to John Alfred and Elizabeth Allard on December 16, 1910 in Roosevelt, Oklahoma. Her family was on of the original pioneer settlers in Roosevelt when, in 1901, John Alfred drew the 160 acres the road to the south of the current Roosevelt Cemetery in the lottery drawing in Lawton.
In May 1929, Eva graduated from Roosevelt High School and then attended Business School in Enid, Oklahoma for 2 years before returning home to Roosevelt to attend to her ailing mother. She never left Roosevelt again until November, 2006 when she moved to Lawton.
Eva worked for Farmers Co-Op for 39 years, knowing and meeting the farming needs of most farmers doing business with the Co-Op. Living next door almost made her on call night or day. A record check in December, 2008, revealed that Eva was the 7th oldest retiree recipient in the entire Co-Op system.
In July, 1935, Eva married South Copper and established a homestead in Roosevelt until his death in 1959. In December, 1962, she married Raymond Sparks and was again widowed in July 1984. She established a close relationship with Spark's daughters: Marilyn Scott of Roosevelt, Glenda Hyneman of Lawton, and Donna Sparks of Lawton.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents and all six brothers: George Edwin, Alfred (Fred) Cleo, John Roy, Paul Wilhelm, Lawrence Henry, and Franklin Fernerd. Her brother, Edwin, remained in the Hobart/Roosevelt area and married Loma Sheets and was the parents of Wayne, Leta Mae, Darrell (Corky) and Leon Allard, all graduates of Hobart High School.
