Eva Gertrude White Brooks passed away to her heavenly home on March 10, 2016, after a brief illness. Eva was the eighth child born to Sarah Ethel and John Melton White on April 4, 1927, in Cooperton, Oklahoma. She spent most of her life in Kiowa County, Oklahoma, where she was affectionately known as "Ebo". Eva attended school in Cooperton until she moved with her parents to Hobart where she graduated from Hobart High School in May, 1945. December 31, 1945, Eva and Cecil Leon Brooks "eloped" to Vernon, Texas where they were married. Four children were born to this marriage, Cecilia Kaye, John Nelson, Janna Beth, and Phyllis Kim. The family began their home in the Cooperton Valley, then moved to Hobart, Oklahoma. In May, 1999, Eva and Cecil established their new home in Antlers, Oklahoma. Eva worked for the Department of Agriculture for many years. She enjoyed quilting, art, and especially floral arranging. Her pride and joy were her flower gardens. Every spring and fall she relished planting flowers and making her fountains flow. Eva was a devout Christian and active in her church homes. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Antlers.
Eva is survived by her four children: Kaye Julian, Antlers, Oklahoma; John Brooks and wife Karen, Wichita, Kansas; Janna Hill and husband Richard, Norman, Oklahoma; and Kim Whittle and husband Gary, Sugar Land Texas. She was lovingly known as Nana by her eleven grandchildren: David Porter, Derek and Gina Porter, Jan Julian, Greg Julian and Joe Carter; Stacie and Dean Clarkson, Sarah and Jamison Yoder; Crystal and Tommy Cosper, Jennifer and Doug White; Jessica and Steve Hardin, Grant Whittle, Abby Whittle. Her seventeen great-grandchildren loved their Nana-Great. She is also survived by beloved friends and extended family. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her seven siblings; her husband, Cecil; son-in-law, Robert Julian; various nieces and nephews.
