Ernestine Kauley, 76, of Hobart, OK passed away on Monday, February 14, 2011, in Oklahoma City, OK.
She was born July 18, 1934 in Hobart, OK to Ernest and Helen (Ahtapety) Kauahaquo. Ernestine married Harry Dewey Kauley in 1953 in Hobart, OK and he preceded her in death January, 1997. She was a Hearing Board member of the Kiowa Tribe. She graduated from Western Oklahoma State College with an associates degree, and graduated from Southwestern OK State at Weatherford with her bachelors and masters degree. She was a prominent member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma. Ernestine was the great-granddaughter of Chief Lone Wolf. She was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son, Tom Kauley and wife Dolly, Cochiti Lake, NM
two daughters: Natachee Hunn and husband Lee Roy, Altus, OK
Sacha Smith and husband Victor, Hobart, OK
six grandchildren: Jeremy Hunn, Miriam Hunn, Stevie Ray Williams, Tim Kauley, Victor Smith III, Cameron Smith
one brother, Richard Kauahquo and wife Diane, Hobart, OK
three sisters: Beverly Caddo and husband Jimmy Ray, Lawton, OK
Freida Hudson, Hobart, OK
Jobyna Fern Hammock and husband John, Lawton, OK
4 great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, January 1997, two daughters: Lisa Williams and Jean Ann Kauley and one grandson, Seth Hunn
