Elizabeth Newman, 75, of Cordell went to her Heavenly home on April 6, 2023. She was born on April 12, 1947 to John and Candis (Baker) Cain in Cordell, Oklahoma. Elizabeth attended Rocky schools and graduated from Rocky High School in 1965. She met the love of her life, James Newman Sr. and they married on March 21, 1966 in Cordell where they made their home and raised their 5 children.
Elizabeth loved being a homemaker and was a very talented seamstress operating a seamstress business in her home for many years.
In 1993, God called her into ministry which took her to Russia (twice), Holland, and across the US. She loved to serve God and had a passion for praise and worship. She was also an avid songwriter and released two soundtracks.
In 1996, she founded Si'on Ministries, Inc; a ministry fellowship that trains and ordains ministers all over the US and currently has over 50 ministers and charter ministries.
In 1998, she founded Judah House of Praise in a home in Cordell. The church eventually moved downtown to a storefront and in 2003 it was moved to the current location, which was also the Pentecostal church she was raised in.
In 2001, Jim and Elizabeth founded the Judah Food Bank and Thee Thrift Store. They originally started in their storefront church, and after outgrowing two buildings they purchased the Pucketts Grocery Store, where they are currently serving the residents of Washita County.
She loved having her house full. She also enjoyed cooking and baking and loved to feed people. She always ended her prayers with "May we always have plenty to eat and plenty to give."
To know Elizabeth was to love her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
