Eleanor Ann Watson, 85, of Hobart, Oklahoma went to her Heavenly home on June 7, 2023, after a lengthy illness. She was born on May 30, 1938, to Arnold and Mildred Irene (Box) Hartzog in Mountain Park, Oklahoma. The family moved to San Diego, California, at the beginning of World War II and returned to Oklahoma right before the end of the war, where they lived briefly in Duncan and Gotebo before moving permanently to Hobart. Eleanor graduated from Hobart High School in 1956 and remained an active member of the 50's Reunion Group. She worked for Smith Drug Store during her high school years and after graduation, attended the University of Oklahoma. She moved back to Hobart and worked at the Home State Bank until she moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1959. Eleanor met and married Aaron Kent Watson in 1960 in Lubbock, and they raised four children. They worked in the Cotton Industry and lived in several small West Texas towns where they managed cotton gins, notably Sterley and Petersburg. After leaving the gin business, Eleanor worked for Plains Cotton Cooperative Association in Lubbock, Texas, where she remained for twelve years until her retirement in 2001. At that time, she returned to her roots, Hobart. She and her mother, Mildred, were housemates until Mildred's move to Plainview, Texas, to a retirement center and nursing home. Eleanor leaves many friends; her 50's Reunion Group; Friends at woodland Gardens and Hobart Housing; her painting companions; her co-workers at PCCA, and all the ginning-related friends from Sterley and Petersburg whose lives have intertwined hers for the past fifty years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
